Mai Shiranui. Lulllllz.
I kind of like SD16 Kira, but I far prefer a couple of the outfits. I might have to queue up on the 26th or 27th or whichever is clothes and get those. Or one of those. The boy set probably. I hate spending money on girls clothes because they're far easier to make.
The Yos this time around look like midgets. Like, adults who are just really small. It's creepy. Not to say real little people are creepy, but in doll form they're creepy. Their faces look at least 10 and their bodies are 3. Agh.

I had a weird dream and I don't remember how it ended, but I related it to someone in a dream that followed.
I was in a place that looked like my hometown and for some reason wanted to go to Kansas City. Where was I? Some kind of baseball diamond? That's what it appeared to be. And I was there and Aes was there and my coworker was there and Kyo and Shinya were there.
And we were all going to go to KC.
And Kyo and Shinya were going to drive. The rest of Deg were in another car.
Shinya drove first, and my coworker needed the explanation of who these guys were because he had no idea. Shinya was a horrible driver, starting way too slow and ending up way too fast. It was one of those situations like when I drive in dreams and can see myself from overhead. The highway was four lanes (although in reality it's 2) and Shinya kept swerving from one lane to the other, but remaining in the right direction.
Then after a bit, Shinya and Kyo switched.
You know how in Alien they have a radar kind of thing that shows where the alien is on a screen kind of like Pacman? We had one of those on the dash which showed in red lights where we were and where the other cars on the road were. I was watching it and watching in horror as we zipped between all four lanes of traffic at 125 mph. We would go straight for a bit and then veer all the way into oncoming traffic and then jerk back.
"PULL OVER!" I repeated until it happened.
We took Kyo out of the driver's seat and asked him if he was sleepy. (Of course they speak perfect English in these dreams, duh.) If he was sleepy, he should let one of us drive.
"No, no, I'm fine," he insisted. "Really, I'm fine."
And we got back in the car.
But I don't remember what happened after that.
And I had another dream in the same general area and Aes needed to go to the airport and my brother was there and I remember I told him about this dream and wanted to tell Aes because she was in it, but never had a chance since she was stressed about getting to the airport.
That dream also had the weird "remembering another dream" link. I had a dream once doing an interview for my current job in a nearby town at an office in a strip mall, and I mentioned this event because Aes was going to an interview in another city for my company, but it was already 5:02 and I mentioned that when I did my interview they had made me come in before 5.
Then I was all, "Oh, I can't go with you because I don't have a return permit!" and wouldn't be able to get one that day ... even though I guess I was already in the US but "not really" as happens in dreams.

The Big Joke
Nov. 15th, 2009 | 10:57 pm
Bowling is the big joke.
There's a bowling alley not far from where I live--10 or 15 minutes on foot--and I pass it on my way home a lot, especially if I stop at Starbucks. Every time I pass it I see the sign which says that the operating hours are 10:00-30:00. And every time I have to stop and think what the hell 30:00 is.
I love those kinds of times because they go along with my theory that the day does not begin until you go to sleep. If a store closes at 25:00, obviously that's a time where you haven't yet gone to bed and the new day has not yet begun. It isn't reset to zero just yet.
But 30 requires a lot of, "Wait ... 24 plus 6 so is 30:00 really 6? I guess so."
And I think by then it's possible that you went to bed, got up at 4, and went to the bowling alley at 5 to bowl for an hour before it closed. :|

I went out and got my slippers.
Then I was in Closet Child and saw this coat I liked. And I realized after I bought it ...
I was in Bodyline and there was this jacket I liked and had seen on the internets. I tried it on, even though you're not supposed to (which I didn't know) but it was too expensive by Bodyline standards. I was waiting for it to go down in price, but it never did and then it disappeared.
The coat I got was the "original" version of that jacket (far more substantial, hence the use of the word "coat" instead of "jacket"). Huh. And since it was yoozed, it only cost me about $11 more than the Bodyline version.
I was on a serious mission for cheesecake, but wound up with none. And then wound up walking around godknowswhere, found out where I was, and was able to get home. Hurray.

The History of Potato and Food Culture

I was aching for some carbcarbcarbs even after eating rice for dinner, and went to Mini Stop to get some fries. Not just one thing of fries. TWO. Their ketchup isn't bad. I usually don't use it. Nomnomnom fries.
Then I came home and ate fish anyway.
I had really wanted cheesecake. Oh well. AMPM didn't have any when I got my doria. (Their cheesecake is wheat-free. I hope it stays around for a while.)
I tried out my new boots on the way to Mini Stop. Apart from being a bit stilty (a bit of platform) and therefore awkward going downhill, they were pretty good. I'll wear them again tomorrow and see if they hold up. I was going to buy my slippers today but decided that I should do this tomorrow since I was all teary on the way home.
I've had bad luck with boots lately. So I hope they are comfortable enough for a day of walking around. My super heely boots go painy ow after about 2 or 3 straight hours of being on my feet.
BEAT THAT, BOOTS.
I saw that someone had put out food for MustacheCat (one of the cats who has a name). Poor MustacheCat! The last time I saw him was running toward me when it had started raining Tuesday night. He meowed at me like two little beeps and then ducked under a car. I'm glad to see that someone other than myself wants to feed the smittenz. I wishenz I had a kittytat.

Today was the worst day in a long, long time.
Worse than shitting myself and burning my finger in the same day.
Worse than all the moving business.
And I don't even feel particularly ill today, so it's not anything like that. It's just ... a lot of other things. "One of those days." By 12:30 I was ready to jump in front of a bus. And I didn't even have to teach that guy I hate! I taught nice people that I know. And had a wacky conversation in my last lesson.
And then I had to stay about 40 minutes after work to talk about what happened today.
And once again, it's nice to have a "helper" on staff, but holy shit. We have not had the proper materials at all any day since she came. I had to pop out of the room and go "wtf" at the staff lady because it was lesson 23 and my cards were for lesson 33. At least now I know 33 is tropical fruit. e__e But it's hard to do SPORTS with tropical fruit.
And then in the next lesson I had to cut all the paper myself (body sized), and she locks the cabinets now, so it was lucky I had my own scissors with me. Then it says that I need rubber bands to roll up the paper so the kids can take it home. I had ONE RUBBER BAND. ONE.
On Halloween we made masks. Paper plates with chopsticks. But I had no chopsticks. Told her, she dug around and found ... 3 pairs. Okay, I can break them apart and use them for the six kids, I guess. But then I said, "What about Mike?"
"Can't you share?" she asked.
... not when the kids will be taping them to their mask and taking them home. Poor thing. She's a little Vuittarded. I bet you can suss out what that means.

I heard salsa music and immediately wanted Mexican food.
Speaking of food, why is the McChicken back? Did someone say, "Gosh, I wish I could get a soggy patty of fake chicken on a bun for 100 yen!" or something? Shakashaka is real actual chicken and it's 100 AND low-carb.
Shit I was going to go to bed about a million years ago.

If I still lived in my shitty company apartment that doesn't exist anymore, I would be able to WALK to my test.
As it is ... I can probably wake up at 8. Last time I had to get up at 7:00 or something. It's actually on "my line."
Still fucks me up to get up that early. When I randomly fill in bubbles on the grammar section and finish too early, I get sleepy.
I should bake some fish.

I woke up around 9 and since my box would come between 9 and 12, I migrated to the sofa.
Could not fall asleep on the sofa. Between trucks and discomfort and the little old lady on her hov-a-round zipping down the road to be an old biddy with the other old biddy across the street ... no sleep. Box came, "Well, I'll just nap until shoes." No, no nap. Needed to eat. I always get REALLY hungry if I wake up too early.
Buuuut I have new shoes. And things I shouldn't really eat. I ate chef boyardee (tiny cups of it) and felt so-so, so maybe that's a good threshold.

My nails are at that "cut or paint" point. They're getting pretty ridiculous, but not as long as they've been in the past.
Usually I just wait for some horrible accident to befall them before I cut them. But they're holding up pretty well right now *knock* so I dunno.

I feel really really antsy today. I'm not sure why. Just ... need to do something and when I'm not doing ENOUGH I feel like I need to go somewhere and do something. I really want to eat some sugar and I have no kleenex so I should probably go somewhere with kleenex and sugar. Or I could eat a banana, which I don't really like. Or oatmeal. AND THEN go get tissues.
I'm having one of those things where I can't find something that should not be missing. My eye brush went missing a couple of days ago and I have NO CLUE where it wandered off to. I either put it on the table or on the microwave. And it is in neither place. Or under. Or next to. Or behind. I looked in some boxes and around some things and tore bits of the room apart and ... nothing.
So it must be gnomes.

"An eye for an eye, and soon the whole world is blind."
I was thinking about this quote the other day and realized it did not make sense.
You take my eye. I take yours. Finished. Just because I take your one eye in retaliation for the eye you took doesn't mean you get to take another one.
So maybe it should be, "An eye for an eye, and soon the whole world is blind ... if you're an asshole and take more eyes than you are allotted."
I mean, pretty assholish to take an eye in the first place. But still.
It's like having your cake and eating it too. They say you can't do this, but I think you can ... it just depends on how much cake you have to start with. It says nothing about a WHOLE cake. Newlyweds do this all the time. They have one tier of the cake in the freezer for whatever stupid reason and then they eat the rest of it. HAVE + EATEN = saying fails

At Passport the other day they had these mop slippers that look like Russian nesting dolls. (I cannot spell the word they are called and refuse to look it up.)
My shower room is always really wet and I don't want to walk in there in bare feet to brush my teeth. So I always throw the towel on the floor to stand on. BUT then the towel stays wet forever.
I think I should get moppy slippers. :O
Payyyyydayyyyy. Payyyyrarrrrdayyyyy.

Oh my god, they FINALLY caught that guy who killed the Nova teacher.
It happened two or so days after I got here, so he's been on the run for over two and a half years. Finally finally finally. There's so much to say about that case but ... finally.
Now I hope they catch the guy who dismembered that girl. And the dude who killed and torched the gal in Matsudo and tried to use her bank cards.
There's a new group training right now. I met this total newbie today and ... poor guy. He was put in a guesthouse nearish to Omiya and he's the only teacher there and pretty much the only white guy. He came to Japan and there was no one waiting for him, no information, no one to talk to, nothing. He's going through a really rough time right now and we all felt really bad for him.
Although, to be honest, his situation sounds like what I do nearly every day.
Anyway, he reminds me of the cutter chick who went home after two days. But I think this was his second day so he may already be lasting longer than her. Personnel are not known for their giving a shit about people, so ... yeah. :( Poor dude. At the very least he said he joined a gym. "Oh, so you'll have old men wanting to be your friend in no time," I said.
"Yeah, I already have one of those." Well ... at least there's that.

I wonder what that noise across the street is. It's a loud buzzing beep and it sounds like a smoke alarm. Except having set off my smoke alarm in my old apartment, I don't think it is a smoke alarm. (It literally said, "Kaji desu." But it wasn't. It was steam.) But then, what is it? Some kind of alarm? It's really loud. Maybe it's the washing machine. I dunno.
Something peculiar ... after not going to work last Tuesday I feel like I have to remind myself that I work in ohmeohmy on Tuesday. Must. Go. To. Work.
And I didn't want to get out of bed. It is unbelievably frustrating to be sleepy all day and then when you go to bed at 1:30 you can't sleep and lie there til 1:55, get out of bed, stay up until about 3, go back to bed and then feel incredibly sleepy when you get up.
Saiph is officially on ... "preparing." I think it says it in Japanese on the other page, but it says it in English on another page. But on the English site it would say something else. It would say "before shipping." How confusing is that ... on the "order status" page they only show the "before shipping/on shipping" tags. Anyway, I hope this means she is getting made and painted.
5900 grams??? That's heeeeeavy. Not "really" heavy but ... heavvvvvy.

At least I'm not locked in a box anymore.
I haven't really had occasion to do anything in a while. Since I'm trying to save save save and stuff, I haven't wanted to spend money on anything intangible. I've tried to spend my days off window shopping and wandering around and sewing at home. But I'm spending WAY too much time at home. I missed my window for eating out somewhere.
I'm kinda aching to DO something but I don't know what to do. Everything worth doing seems like it costs a lot of money and the rest of the stuff in the universe is not worth doing. I was watching Amazing Race and an ad popped up for some kind of something and there were young people drinking and I thought, "Oh right, that's what people my age are supposed to do for fun."
I need to think of/find something else to do. I'm running out of questionably acquired audiobooks. And those are only for noise while I'm doing something else (usually sewing). It's easier for me to concentrate on doing something with my hands if my brain is engaged with something else. But not music.

It's easier for me to concentrate on doing something with my hands if my brain is engaged with something else. But not music.

I am a black man.

I always tell people that I'm no good with the names of students, but I remember their faces. I've been told by other teachers that students don't remember our names either, so it's no big deal. I tend to agree. But you never encounter people forgetting your name ...
Well, last week my coworker was telling me about that student I hate. I've mentioned him before. I hate him. And my coworker was talking about something and the guy mentioned me but ... he used the name of the black guy with an unusual name who works in the same school on another day of the week.
Like ... the school itself only has 6 teachers. And I think only two females. And this guy has taken my lessons nearly every week for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks. He sees my name on the schedule and in his lesson book and on his notes and ... I remember HIS name ...
All us furriners are just alike, I guess.
